Which brand for 6870?

Anubis

No Lifer
i haven't bought a new card in years, and a ATI card has been even longer

prices are all pretty much the same but is one card maker better then the others? i will prob OC it

i'd say any of the major out there: ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, XFX, HIS, Sapphire...

Pretty much all the same with different cooling solutions.

You can't go wrong with any of these IMO.

XFX or Visiontek. Both have lifetime limited warranty.

Do you think an XFX card is worth a $20 premium over the VisionTek? I've generally bought EVGA, BFG, and ATI in the past and don't know much about XFX. IIRC, VisionTek used to do nVidia cards a long, long time ago and I don't remember having any issues with them.

yea bout time i replace my GTX285 that is on its way out. fan makes WAY too much fing noise now, + i have to under clock it so it doesn't have random driver errors

Mine isn't on it's way out, but man I'm sick of the fan noise. Toying with the idea of an HD 6870, but it's more like a side-grade than an upgrade, so I'll probably wait for HD 6950 or something similar.

I have dealt with visintek rma and its not the greatest but they do honor it.
You have to pay shipping both ways, and they never update you during the process.
Its a 2-3 week turnaround time, i had to rma my 5850 a couple of times before they got me one that worked good.
I would go with xfx.

yea its not a huge upgrade but its more then a side-grade for most things. however its a massive upgrade in terms of my sanity when gaming with low volume. + less power and heat is always nice. the 285 served me well, especially considering i paid less for it when it was 2 months old then the 6870 is costing me now
