as i mentioned i'm a first time builder. i want something that is easy to install and will last me several years. i may want to overclock but not at first. both of this boards look decent and the price is right (Chaintech $93 and Gigabyte $110)....which is better? i saw on newegg that the included cables for the chaintech look pretty skimpy and cheap...i think the chaintechs are shipping with fans now, instead of passive cooling....i dunno ...i just want something that will last and that i can upgrade later... and EASY.

i know this looks like a bit of a ramble....i'm just looking for some of you experienced guys to tell me what would be the best....here is my shopping list so far:

Thermaltake Soprano
ENERMAX EG425P-VE SFMA 2.0 ATX12V 420W
Athlon 64 3000, Socket 939 (Venice)
2x GeIL Value 512MB 184-Pin DDR 400
Leadtek PX6600GT TDH
Seagate Barracuda SATA NCQ 120GB
NEC16x Dual Layer DVD
Mobo- ???????

Thanks!!! (any suggestions on my current list is appreciated also!)

Try the ASUS A8N-E, I heard that was good. Just keep in mind that it doesn't have Firewire. ASUS is generally good for reliability, and as a first timer I found their documentation/setup process really easy. Avoid the A8N-SLi and the A8V-E -> Numerious stabilty issues.

Nice choice of parts.

If you're looking for quiet system try to avoid thermaltake. A good case for that price range would be a Coolermaster Cavalier.
