Hi Everyone
I cann't decide on wheather to get P4 or AMD. This is what I am looking for :-
a)SATA
b)RAID
c)AGP 8X
d)Dual DDR would like this to be a gaming machine also. Not sure if I will overclock.

If P4 I would like to have HT/533/800FSB CPU, whats does C stands for in P4. For AMD 2500+. I need recomendations for board and which CPU to get. I had good experience with Asus but MSI and Abit offers good features though.

Best bang for you buck will be a AMD setup right now.

1. CPU = 2500+ retail $90
2. Board = Abit AN7 $109

What about P4. Isn't all the AMD boards except with NForce one with VIA chipsets. I read horrible reviews about that chipset.

Who says the nForce2 is a bad chipset?????????

I am running a Abit NF7-S board using Dual Ch memory, 8X agp card, Sata hard driver, etc... and runs great. Love the onboard sound also.

P4's have 0 value.. they are expensive, and not as fast, clock per clock as the AMD's.. NForce2 chipset rocks!!!

i like IC7-G and Nf7-s (AN7) respectively.
asus is good too, but their tech support is sub par

For an Intel rig, I would suggest an Asus P4P800 (865PE) with a P4-2.6c (800FSB) with Kingston HyperX PC3200 dual channel memory kit. This is what I have and am very happy. Read newegg user reviews for these parts as well as tech site reviews; both will cofirm that this is a good setup and has everything you are looking for.

Any other sugestions for a intel rig besides ASUS. I already have Asus want to use a different board this time , which model for Abit + what Cpu. Which Cpu gis best for AMd 2500+. Is AMD easy to overclock with Abit NF7 and if I use P4 2.4C.

My question is about AMD 2500+ has 333 FSB and if I use DDR 400 isn't that will be a bottleneck or I can overclock the chip to match the speedof the memory.
Thanks

I read the reviews of these boards here
MSI 875P Neo-FIS2R (stay from it , anyone has this board any problems with it)
Abit IC7-G (good features but the location of Ide is pretty weired might not have a problem unless I uses round cables. Anyone has problem with the ide layout.
Asus P4C800-E Deluxe (good reviews but little pricy for me) or I can go for P4P800 Deluxe which has all the features what I am looking for. If I get a 2.4 C do I have to get P4C board or P4P should work as the only difference is P4B supports 400/533/800 vs only 800 for P4C. Which is more easy to overclock , stable.

Thanks
