Which board auto-unlocks Athlon XP multiplier?

Heard from someone awhile ago that one of the new Asus boards automatically unlocks a locked Athlon XP multiplier..was it the A7N8X or the A7V8X??? Any success stories? Please post details. Thanks.

As far as I know, my 8k3a does. People have the 1700 with everything up to 13x (not 12.5 for some reason) and the 2100 with at least 13 and above (not sure whether it has all). 8K3A was the BOARD. Where are all the people who have 8k3a's? I assume that they are looking to change from a palmino to the new tbreds. Maybe they all bought 8rda's 🙂.

Basically my goal is this:

to run the FSB at 166mhz and run the multiplier low enough so it's not actually overclocking the CPU...while also running memory at 333mhz........

I have a Palomino core 1700+ and it's running 50C with an Alpha 8045 and a Panaflo...

I'd figured this would get me a decent speed boost without jacking up temperatures in the system.......

What would be the best way to do this?

Are you going to keep the palmino in the new board? If so, then there is no point. Only Tbreds allow the changing of multipliers on the nf2's and certain kt400/333's. There is no point in getting a new board if you are going to keep the palmino.

well it's not like I'm set in stone or anything. I'd grab another TBred if I have to since they're not expensive anymore. Do the .13m chips run cooler by any chance?

New core revisions generally drop about 10 W of heat output for the same Mhz. Do the math for your cooler. I want a tbred 1700+ since it's heat output is actually identical to my tbird 900 but is 50% faster.

My Epox 8RDA is running my AXP1700+ Tbred B very well at 12.5*133FSB default voltage. I haven't tried higher FSB speeds yet. 🙂
