I'm 24, looking to go with my gf. Going to stay there for 2 days, spend less than $400 for all expenses, and I'm driving there coming from Philly. I'm looking for a clean beach mainly, and some stuff to do on the the boardwalk.

And what is the purpose of your trip?
When will you be leaving?

and what method of transportation are you using?
how much money do you want to spend?

Wildwood is fun....lots of boardwalk stuff to do, and the beach isn't bad.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
You're not supposed to tell anyone about Brigantine! It's supposed to be our BEST KEPT SECRET!!!! :|:|:|:|:|

Brigantine has no boardwalk, and you'll be hard-pressed to stay 2 nights for under $400.
However, at your age, you may be able to stay in Atlantic City (at the marina), do fun-fun casino things at night, and drive across the bridge to Brigantine during the day. The beach in Brigantine is clean and relatively uncrowded. There are a few nice restaurants to try, too (Pirates Den, Steak 38, Island Diner, Hoopers).
Atlantic City is also fairly close to Philly.

Other ones you might try - (Southern beaches)Stone Harbor, Cape May, Sea Isle City, (Northern)Point Pleasant, Belmar

Frankly, Wildwood is a crowded dump. Don't even bother. Same goes for Seaside. Schmaltz and crowds.
Sea Isle City is crowded but fairly clean. A few good drinking spots. Same goes for Belmar. Pt. Pleasant is a little more dumpy, but there are some good hangouts and a boardwalk there.

That's the spirit! Yes! The beaches suck. Stay away from them. Dirty and smelly and full of obnoxious kayakers smacking you with their paddles.

Yep. Stay away from those nasty Jersey beaches.

Wildwood is pretty much more and more crowded every year... Seaside is getting that way too. Not sure about Ocean City yet because I haven't been there but there's supposed to be a nice boardwalk there too.

AC is AC...

Ocean City is a "family resort." No booze, hordes of screaming brats, not much on the boardwalk for adults - just a bunch of arcades and a few crappy amusements. Some decent mini-golf joints and food, though. It's also quite crowded.

Hey hey seaside and point pleasant eh? My gradmother has a little bungalow in Ocean Beach smack in the middle of those two. I spent a lot of time there in the summer growing up.

Personally, I'd recommend Long Beach Island to you but Seaside/Pt. Pleasant is nice enough too. Have fun!

P.S. Yeah Seaside and Point Pleasant are both pretty crowded. When I'm down there I don't go to public beaches so I can't comment on what that experience will be like. The boardwalk is probably more fun if you aren't staying a block away from it and going to the beach right in front of it all day. That little pier with the Berkeley Sweet shop and the Merry-Go-Round has a nice little retro arcade in the back. It was very nostalgic for me at least.

Someone here at work suggested I go to Ocean City. Anyone been there lately? The only thing I don't like about it from what she says is that there typically is no alcohol there. I'm not a big drinker, but I would like to go to the bar since I am on vacation.
