Dave Matthews Band still sells out i think.

The Pixies, Foo Fighters,
the list i would imagine is incredibly long

I thinky Jay-Z sold out madison square garden in one day. Which is might impressive considering 1) he was allowed a concert there, 2) sold out 3) in one day :p

indeed. i finally saw them last summer and they didn't disappoint. i need to see them again however, as i left knowing that they could easily do another full set of good tunes without replaying any of those they played in the first show.

Metallica still definately belongs up there.. They don't have any trouble filling the seats.

Yep. Every single show I've gone to featuring them in the past 6-7 years has always commanded at least a $60 premium and has ALWAYS sold out.

And for people that have gone to a Metallica concert, they know that even they're newer music sounds absolutely amazing live.

For the most part that list demonstrates that only Yuppies can afford tickets to concerts these days.

Yes. He just had a back to back concert in Grand Rapids, Mi and was very successful in filling seats.

The Pixies, Foo Fighters,
the list i would imagine is incredibly long

I thinky Jay-Z sold out madison square garden in one day. Which is might impressive considering 1) he was allowed a concert there, 2) sold out 3) in one day :p

I've never even heard of the pixies :p

i guess i meant globally (world tour style)...and none of those bands you mentioned would fill the telstra dome to capacity (or even come close to drawing that kinda crowd in Oz ;))
The ones that command top dollar and always sell out/close enuff...

the second quote was the standard i was thinking of... and i do think DMB and foo fighters could have that pull. The pixies might have had it 15 years agoish...

why keep adding standards to your original question?

ps : dave matthews band sold out pacbell park (yes, a baseball stadium with the field converted to additional seating essentially doubling the amount of seats available) at a ticket price of 75USD. (140+ for the good ones)

The problem with that is for a band like Metallica, the most expensive tickets, and best tickets, are General Admission. And by that, I mean the huge fvcking pit in front of the stage. It would make absolutely no sense in trying to command a $200-$250 premium for these seats like you see Madonna or Elton John do.
