You'll get mixed opinions:

[*]Reference ATI cat 4.2
[*]Omega 4.2's

The Omega drivers are the hacked ones, right? What do they offer over ATi's standard drivers?

The Omega's usually perform and look slightly better. In fact, the programmer of the Omega driver works with the ATi driver department. I would try out both sets of drivers and see which one offers better performance and image quality. Testing is the only real way to find out.

IF one driver set works better than the other for particular circumstances - so be it.

But.......a) The Omega-guy does not program/write any drivers. All he does is mix/bundle various ATI driver-files and edit the inf-files to disable/enable certain features. I also have my doubt he 'works with ATI's driver department'.

I always stick with official ATi drivers, the 4.2s are running fine for me,the 4.3s are due soon(probably nextweek).

Same here. When it comes to drivers, I don't mess around w/anyone type of 3rd party anything. ATI Cats/NVidia Dets/NVidia unified driver, etc. Only the official stuff for me. Safer that way, IMO.

I'd say Omega 4.2, or just vanilla catalyst 4.2.

But, some people report the best performance is with 3.7/3.8, while best for having the least issues etc is 4.2.

Everything has been fine for me with 3.10, 4.1, 4.2 (and omega equivalents), except Enemy Territory which has played like crap with all of them. Maybe/probably a problem with my system but I cant find it :(

He is on their beta testing team.
