hey, i was wondering which athlon ddr mobo is the best right now, im making a sub-1000$ budget comp for my freind but prices are so low nowadays its ridiculous. found 256mb of pc2100 crucial ram for like 50$, so nows a great time to build a comp.......

Epox 8K7A is a good board. I have one running a 1.2GHz. Athlon and it works fine. The Epox 8K7A+ has onboard RAID but is otherwise the same as the 8K7A. However, you might also want to take a look at the Gigabyte 7DXR and the Asus A7M266. They're all based on the same chipset (AMD 760).

Or, if you would like to wait a couple weeks, motherboards with the improved Via KT266 chipset will be coming out, as will boards based on the SiS 735. Both of these chipsets will be faster than the AMD 760.

But if you have to have one now, go with the Epox 8K7A (for lower price), the Gigabyte 7DXR (for that cool blue color and great onboard sound), and the Asus A7M266 (if you like Asus).

Good luck! 😀

Sorry, that comment just made me laugh..😉

One thing to consider..stay away from the A7M266 if you plan on doing much overclocking. The A7M266 does not allow multiplier adjustment, so you will be limited to FSB adjustment only. As far as RAID, the 8K7A+ and the GA-7DXR have onboard RAID.
