And I can't decide on which Athlon 64 to buy...
For the motherboard, I chose Epox 8KDA3+ which I think is great for that price range...even great for ANY price range :D

There have been some introductions to the market...
Now there are 3 kinds of athlon 64's..atlest I counted 3 of them :)

Which one is the best to buy?
I'm thinking of buying a 3200+ rating proc so:
the old Ath 64 model, 2.0 ghz, 1 mb L2 cache?
or
the new Ath 64 @ 2.2 ghz and 512 kb cache?

there are some other differences...in steppings, which i read somewhere but I didn't quite understand...
Also I read a review that claimed the new version @ 2.2 ghz produces significant heat...

Any reply from expirience is welcome :D

well there is the clawhammer or the newcastle

the newcaste has 512kb of cache and the clawhammer has 1mb

if your going to overclock i would suggest you get the clawhammer, if your not get the newcastle.

the steppings are CO or CG. The CG is suppost to be better.

I have a Newcastle 2.2GHz CPU... runs great, and the extra cache to be was not IMO gonna be worth the price premium.... some apps prefer the extra 200 MHz, some might prefer cache... I figured it was a toss up and went with the cheaper CPU.

I think I'm just as likely to do the same...go with the cheaper cpu...
It's the same like choosing between intel and amd, ati and nvidia...each performs better in it's own part of town...when you sum up...they perform the same...:D
