Which Asus motherboard for me?

I am currently building a new system, and I am having trouble deciding on which Asus board. There seems to be about a million different variations of the P5 models. I am also not sure if some are better than others in ways that don't show up on a feature list.

I am planning to get a Core2Duo E6750, 2X1GB of DDR2 800 RAM, Geforce 8800GTS, WD Raptor 150GB, Seasonic 550WP/S. This is all going into my Antec P182.

I do not plan to ever do SLI and I do not need wireless. I do plan to do some overclocking and would appreciate any motherboard that makes the process easier. I'll use whatever audio capability the motherboard provides.

With those needs, what's the best Asus board with value in mind (i.e. I'm not paying for things I don't need)? I will pay more if the motherboard quality warrants it.

I've always used them and never had problems...I usually like to reward good experiences with another purchase unless there is a reason not to. If there is something significantly better, I'll consider it.
 
Asus has made some good boards. Several years ago I had a P533 that is still running today in my mother's PC. But I'm not a brand loyal type of guy. I try to find the best mobo at the time I buy for what I need. I do some research and get a feel for what is best. Visiting the forums helps, but I visit more than one because some forums seem to be bias toward a certain brand or model.

I decided on the Gigabyte board I now have because everyone admits that they are quality built boards. I found that they run much cooler than the Asus. Check the bottom of page 2 on this link.

I haven't done any overclocking yet so I can't say how it overclocks. It is running great currently. Didn't have a single problem putting the system together.

I've heard that there will be an Anandtech P35 roundup soon. Wait and see the results of that. I've heard that the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P was a favorite for the money. That's the little brother of my DQ6 (same layout).
 
Can you say overpriced? That's what Asus is, same with DFI (who always releases boards too late IMO).

Abit IP35 Pro is excellent for only $180. Gigabyte also offers a board similar to the Asus P5K Deluxe but can be found cheaper. Right now I have no reason to recommend Asus over the other choices.
