I have a broken laptop with a bad motherboard (Acer 5100 series model BL51) that has an AMD Turion 64 TMDMK36HAX4CM processor (writing taken off processor) and another laptop (HP DV2000 series model DV2125nr) that has a AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile TL-50 (reported by CPU-Z). I was wondering which one of the processors are better. I am planing on combining the two laptops with the best parts from each. I have already taken the 2.5GB DDR2 RAM and 250GB hard drive from the Acer.

Well 400MHz isn't really anything in todays world so I'm assuming that the Dual Core is better.

My assumption would be the dual core is slightly slower in single threaded tasks, any thing threaded it will be much quicker in. It'll also multitask much better than the single core. So end conclusion, use the dual core.
