Are you talking about the Athlon II x4 620? The extra 500MHz will certainly be better than the X4 9650

The results are available on Anand's Bench: looks like the 620 wins in all but one test.

Yes, I was confusing clocks of the Phenon II 920 (2.8GHz) with the Athlon II 620 (2.6GHz).

You're right, it's only a 300MHz difference

That is a Phenom I, correct? The Athlon II should be better. Benchmarks are here. I am about to pull the trigger on an Athlon II for an HTPC upgrade after nearly getting a Phenom II 905e.

Yeah, you were looking at a Phenom I vs. an Athlon II and that comparison definitely favors the Athlon II. I was looking at Phenom II vs. Athlon II; while Phenom II is faster, it is much more expensive. I think I've decided that the 95 W Athlon II is worth it over the 65 W Phenom II given the huge price premium.
