Maybe that's part of it, if some people got their toes stepped on. I didn't know he trashed NVidia, though. But it was while promoting Nvidia to the hilt that Tom's rose to the top. Nvidia partisans were thrilled at that time. At that time 3Dfx was on the top, but soon on the way to bankruptcy. although that had nothing to do with Tom. If his site reversed itself, it's that kind of freakiness that make people think Tom is a nut.
>Now he's a 'crackpot' and a 'German nut'.
>Get over it
Does Tom himself comment on anything any more? The last time he condescended to editorialize that I remember, he said nothing about computers at all, but trashed his former guru, who taught Tom everything he knew, and actually wrote all of Tom's good technical pieces, which Tom spiced up in his own inimitable manner. Tom said he "despised" the guy. That was after the guru, in some kind of act of contrition, decided to reveal some of Tom's private wierdness in an editorial on his own site which was folding. It is stuff like that which makes Tom seem like a crackpot. With Tom's editorial was a picture with Tom in a "born again Christian" pose, a crucifix around his neck. Do "born again Christians" despise their former friends?
Well, that's Tom, and so what. His site does have some good major survey reviews. When you check the details of the parts you know first hand, and see they are wrong, you wonder how these articles are done.
