Which AMD-64 to buy (Most bang for developer)

I am trying to decide which amd-64 processor to buy for myself. The amd-64 3400+ is a socket 754 proc with 1mb of L2 cache, while the 3500+ is a 939 with 512k L2 cache. As one who uses their computers for productivity and not gaming, which processor do you guys think is the better choice.

Does the faster FSB and throughput of the 939 proc offset the speed advantages of the 1mb cache?
 
I would say to get the 3500+ solely based on the fact that it will be more upgradeable here in the future. If you don't care about upgradeability, you'll find that the 3400+ will be a bit faster in some things, but marginally.

BTW, YHPM on the Xbox Mod stuff...
 
NO ITS NOT MORE UPGRADABLE. Jease lol. Technically, yes, realistically NO. How often do you buy a friggin new processor (forgot about within the same socket) WITHOUT a new motherboard?!!? No one does, or very rarely. Go with the 3400+ with 512k and 2.4ghz. Its faster and OCs better than the clawhammer (1mb l2 cache).

How long has Socket A been around? It seems as though you have no idea what you are talking about. If AMD keeps Socket 939 as long as they did Socket A, it looks as though it may be a pretty descent upgrade path. I certainly don't go buy another motherboard every-time I upgrade processors, that is if I can help it of course. Socket 939 + nForce4 w/PCI Express will be the best available option. If you want overclocking, forget socket 754 and go with one of the new Socket 939 3000+ or 3200+ which seem to be hitting 2.6GHZ pretty consistently from early reports.
