Which Abit Mobos will run a slot 1 PIII 1000/100?

Don't forget the SH6 w/i815e chipset. I think that this was the only board ever made with the i815e for a slot 1 processor but I'm not sure. I had one running a 650 p3 about 1 1/2 years ago - good board but you have to be careful what memory you use with it as there are some issues with the i815e chipset.

Thanks. Will it run in the BX6 rev1 too?

If so, any chance I can get it overclock to 133MHz with this board?

Yep, a BX6 Rev 1 should work too, just make sure to update to the latest BIOS...

Slot 1 PIII 1Ghz CPU's were all coppermine processors I believe. 1Ghz is pretty much the ceiling for these CPU's. You'd be lucky to get to 1100, but it's still a nice (and pretty rare) CPU you have there :D

Just picked up a Abit BH6 to go with the PIII 1000 for $25.

Seller also threw in a Cel 466 and a never used slot 1 to socket 370 adapter.

I found it on ebay but made the transaction locally as he only lives about 15 miles away.

How about 124 Mhz?

Since you have 124 as an option, you have the BH6 rev 1.1 or later. The 1.0x BH6 and BX6 r1 did not have a 1/4 PCI divider. Thats why I said 133 FSB is no go. The slot1 PIII 1G's are not known to be great overclockers. I would say more likely 112.

All Slot 1 processors - at least to the best of my knowledge - were Katmai core based. The big thing about Coppermine was FC-PGA.

I was under the impression that my P3 700 was a coppermine. That got me looking. My CPU info: Family 6, Model 8, Stepping 3; sSpec #SL3XM.
From intel.com:
The term 'coppermine' refers to Intel(R) microprocessors built using the .18 micron production process. Processors built on the .18 micron production process share the same family (6) and model (8).

So it's not the case that all slot 1 processors are Katmai, perhaps most of them though. The Katmai core was a .25u process while the Coppermine was .18u, Peace.

If I use a slot 1 to socket 370 adapter, what the fastest CPU I can run with a BH6 rev. 1 or a BH6? (I have both mobos).

depends...

if you can run coppermines at all, you should be fine up to 1 ghz.

if you want to mod your slocket you can run tualatin up to 1.4 ghz.

or you can go the expensive, but easy way and get the powerleap:

powerleap

personally, i had lots of problems with my bh6 not liking any of my memory, so i switched to a bx6r2.0 and it's been great ever since, no more blue screens in W2K

Thanks, what mods would I have to do to the slotket?

Didn't know that BH6 is memory sensitive. What memory is preferred?

I do get the blue screen about 25% of the time when I boot up with a BX6 rev 1 board. It usually chokes after it loads my anti-virus programs (AVG).

Think that could be a memory issue?

the slocket mod is detailed over at overclockers.com:

link

i ran my bh6 for a couple of years with no problems with two sticks of 128 mb pc100 in win98

then i ran no problem with win2k for a while. all of a sudden, i started getting blue screens with irql_not_less_or_equal errors. i couldn't figure it out until i read something about win2k/xp being more sensitive to memory problems. so i downloaded and ran memtest86 and it coughed up tons of memory errors. i switched around memory sticks back to the old 128s but still was getting errors. switched out with a bx6 rev2 and i've had no problems since. i still use the bh6 on a work computer and it still has probs with memory.

this was my experience, yours may vary, but you can find out easily by running memtest86.

hope this helps.
