Not a total noobie. I did the build-your-own PC stuff in the 90's.
But found it was just easier to buy 2nd hand referb's from well know manufactures. Now wanting to do a "semi" build-your own over at ibuypower.
I am looking to buy a pc from ibuypower with Athlon-64 3500+ CPU w/ Hyper Transport Technology.
I know I want a 939 mobo so I can do a "cpu replacement" with a dual-core AMD cpu when they are released.
Which of the below mobo's will support dual-core AMD's?
It was my understanding that *any* 939 mobo can take a dual core chip when they are released... but who knows.
Below are my choices in mobo's.
Asus A8V-Deluxe w/LAN, 7.1 Sound, IEEE-1394, USB 2.0 8x AGP Motherboard
GigaByte K8NS Ultra-939 nForce-3 Ultra Chipset w/7.1 Sound, LAN, IEEE-1394, USB 2.0 8x AGP
MSI K8T Neo2-FIR Via-K8T800 Pro Chipset w/7.1 Sound, LAN, IEEE-1394, USB 2.0 8x AGP
MSI K8N Neo2-Platinum nForce-3 Ultra Chipset w/7.1 Sound, LAN, IEEE-1394, USB 2.0 8x AGP
I did a quick read over the article "Socket 939 Roundup: Battle at the Top", but I have been hit with information overload!
Sometimes what is the "#1 choice" isn't really the #1 choice in the real world.
thanks
