Which 8800GT should i purchase?

Im thinking of upgrading my 6800 ultra sli system to something more recent.

I came down to these three as my finalists, all GT8800's:

Palit: 1GB, 600mhz clock <http://canadacomputers.com/mai...31&cid=999.243.390>

Evga: 512MB 650mhz clock <http://canadacomputers.com/mai...39&cid=999.243.390>

Asus: 512MB 700mhz clock <http://canadacomputers.com/mai...45&cid=999.243.390>

Which should i choose? However, most IMPORTANTLY, will these "PCI-Express 2.0 (what is that?)," VC's even work on my A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard with 600Watt enermax PSU.

Much appreciate the advice/help.

They will work with your motherboard, but check +12 rail amps on PSU.

Both EVGA and ASUS are fine, though I never heard of Palit.

from these, I'd get EVGA.

how big is your screen? Perhaps 1 gb of memory can be useful.

edit: PCI-Express 2.0 is backwards compatible with PCI-Express x16 (your motherboard has two PCI-E x16 slots), so don't worry about it.

i was leaning towards the evga one myself, i've heard good things about it, my ultra's are bfg though.

i have a 21" LCD monitor. And yes, i've never heard of the Palit before i saw it on the website. I feel the price tag is of skew and rather skeptical, for that amount of memory (1GB).

I don't remember where but I read a review comparing the 256mb, 512mb, and 1gig 8800gt's and the 512 outperformed even the 1gig one by a tiny margin in most cases for some odd reason. I'd save the money and get a stock speed 512mb card and then just OC it. I purchased my BFG 880gt from best buy for $205 and have overclocked it to 710/1778/1900.

What aer you using for cooling in yours? I've got a VF900 coming for mine next week.

Also, Palit is a reputable company.

I would get a known brand for the cheapest price. I ordered my xfx one and it was $60 less than a card exactly like it other than 70 mhz core clock. Just overclock to any spec. I would however recomend getting the gibabyte version because it comes factory with a better cooler at around the same price.

I would get an 8800GTS G92 cos it comes with a better stock cooler. My 8800GT get's pretty hot. FEAR, for example will sometimes artifact cos that games just asks too much of the GPU

More than Crysis? I've never had any problems with mine. I've not played FEAR on PC though.

I would say eVGA. It has a great warranty and the 256-bit memory bus can handle 1GB in only a few rare occasions so it is not really worth it at all.

Which ever one you get, Canada Computer has the 8800GT overpriced right now. NCIX has the Galaxy one for around $230 AR. Future Shop has the EVGA 8800GT for $249.99. Today's the last day for the sale though, so good luck finding one.

Check my post in the deals section, the Palit seems to be marketed as a higher end card, and seems to have the best cooler. EVGA definately has the best warrenty. Basically NCIX has the 512 palit for 239.
