I heard there were problems with the 810 chipset that Intel recalled their own motherboards. Was that for Intel made board only or was there a problem with the 810 chipset? Are there variety of the 810 chipset? How can I tell if the chipset is the problem chipset?

If my memory is right, there was an issue with a very early run of the i810 (not i810E) chipset running with Pentium III processors. I don't believe there was a recall, though.

for sure, all 810 mb that only support PPGA Celeron are discontinued.
You can buy a Tekram 810 mb with sound for up to PPGA Celeron 533 very cheap at Tekram online store.
