After going through two pathetic airlink routers full of problems, I need a new router that is stable, reliable, and has the following options above. If you own a router that does so, can you please mention it? Thanks.

Static DHCP is telling the router to assing a set IP to a computer based off MAC address or computer name.

I am sorry I was playing with words.;)

DHCP stands for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol.

So it is like saying Static Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol.

I any case what Entry Level Cable/DSL Router can do what is referred to as IP Reservation.

Which means that if you use the Router?s DHCP server to assign IPs as long as you do not Reset the Router it will maintain the same IP associated with the MAC of the computer that obtained it first.

You can also assign a Static IP to a specific computer in the computer?s Network Setting, and as long as it within the subnet of the Router, but out of its DHCP server assigning range it will honor by the Router.

Yes, the Buffalo routers meet your needs. I am currently using a WBR2-G54. Decent router at a great price.

Hacked Linksys WRT54Gs and WRT54GS' can accomplish this. Be warned that you may need to use beta firmware which can be buggy.
