Gigabyte is locked, but, it ships with 1.25 voltage and an overclock of 1000/1250. I have mine at 1100/1500 with 20% power using the CCC. I don't like how the fans would throttle up during games etc, so I have it set at 45% manually. They just got too loud at whatever speed they auto started running at. At 45%, the card stays about 65c. Granted I couldn't actually hear them spinning on auto while gaming, but they are too loud for me at the speeds they were doing after turning a game off. The card would run fine testing in Kombuster, but crash in BF3 trying 1200 or even 1150, so if I stay stable at 1100, I am happy.

Founded back in 1987, Hightech Information System Limited has always been noted for installing original cooling solutions on its graphics cards. In fact, we suspect the company was the first to introduce original coolers altogether. They are especially proud of the IceQ system which has been constantly evolving to get even more efficient and quieter.

really well i can runn 1200core 1500 mem on benchmarks and get great results.... but i run the card at the clock in my sig 24/7 highest temp i seen was during crysis3 i hit 70c with game maxed out....fan was prolly 70% range very intensive game...

idle temps around 29c 32 c ..... every card is diff when oveclocking ur card might be a beast on air.....or a beast on liquid depends on asic quality so they say..

great overclocker tho...

the HIS HD 7950 iceq x2 boost is one of the best HD 7950 cards. reference HD 7970 PCB design. 8 + 6 pin power. more power phases than reference HD 7950. better stability and lower temps for extreme overclocks. unlocked voltage. good cooler. the card measures 311 mm long. so you need to see if it will fit in your case.

The HIS would be on a very short list of 7950's if I were looking at one. In all of the reviews I've read it's been a top performer in all metrics, cooling, noise, O/C'ing (both GPU and memory).

How loud is the fan at 50% and above.

it dont get real loud untill 65% or so at 80% it's pretty loud i guess i dont mind tho......it's a very quiet card as long as u don't got 80 or higher i have high end speakers so no prob here :) they have db level reviews around...

Well.. Honestly I want the card that is going to give me the least issues.. which after a 5850 was anything Not ATI.. so jumped on a good deal before doing enough research. After researching I found the 7950 was $30 cheaper, can overclock past a 7970 and has 1 gig more vram. Plus now that both tomb raider and bioshock have come about and BOTH had issues on NV cards out of the gate I feel it is time to jump to what appears to be the safer long term bet.
