which 7800 GT?

Okay I'm getting a 7800GT, because its only like 5-10 frames behind the GTX in most cases, and the price difference isn't worth it to me.

The two GTs I'm lookin at are the XFX which is at 450/1050, and the eVGA which is at 445/1070. Whats the advantage of each? Which is a better deal? The XFX is 339.99 and the eVGA is 349.99.

I would go for the eVGA...I always thought they had better tech support. Both cards you might as well say would run identical.

Yes thank you, someone with some logic. GT is the right choice definitely. Ive never understood why people got gtx cards, when they are only 5-15fps tops faster than a GT. Which isnt even noticable .

Its definitely between BFG and EVGA, thats for sure. Both kick ass. I will say, the evga will need a bios update right after you get it. Make sure you do that. Evga has a cardpool rebate thing that gives another $25 off. That may be the cheapest. EVGA has a stepup program as well. You can read more about that on their website.

BFG is good, if you got in on the dell deal(dunno if its still going on). I got the BFG 7800GT 2 weeks ago for $296AR so.....I already got my card, so I havnt payed much attention to any other recent deals. I think the BFG is around $340 or $350 AR right now. EVGA or BFG though.

I bought the evga one a couple of weeks ago and have been extremely happy. Their warranty is the best in the business now, as it covers overclocking AND 3rd party coolers, as long as there's no physical damage to the card, it's covered!

ive heard many bad things about XFX's customer support. EVGA and BFG have good customer support.

all 7800 GT's (with exception to the water cooled cards and EVGA's CO version) should generally overclock the same because they all have the same reference cooler. It's all just luck of the draw.

It doesnt matter. All the evga cards NEED a bios update. There is a specific problem with them all. Even if you didnt notice it or its not causeing problems. You need to.

Please elaborate.

Yes, just call tech support and they'll guide you right through it.(If you even need to update) Get the EVGA though.

no you dont...

with the Rev.1 BIOS (the BIOS people were having problems with) there was a geo delta clock basically making the core at 486mhz. A lot of cards couldnt handle those speeds, but the people who can handle those speeds dont need to flash.

maybe.

if you get the rev.2 bios or if your card is fine running the Rev1 bios, you wont need to flash.

if you see artifacts in games, then youll need to flash.

I didn't know that. Usually OC and 3rd party coolers void the warranty. Good to know. I'm gonna have a EVGA 7800 GT CO tuesday 😀 .

I'm partial to Leadtek.

They use high quality filters for great IQ, and their support is awesome.

I borked a card one time trying to put AS2 on the memory. I was honest in telling them what happened with Leadtek and they replaced it!

I am debating between XFX and EVGA. The XFX is cheaper and has a better game bundle...and I've never once needed to contact customer service for a videocard.
