After Months of bitching about getting this card, my cheque is finally going to come in the mail soon, so i'm getting ready to buy one of the following.

MSI 6600GT AGP w/ VIVO - $282 ( ~235 US)
XFX 6600GT AGP - $274 ( ~228 US)
GIGABYTE 6600GT AGP - $256 ( ~213 US)

I am leaning towards the Gigabyte card, but its unlikely that the store w/ that price has it in stock.
Unfortunately the BFG Card is out of my price range, as I am not willing to pay more than what i've listed here. Is the XFX card as bad as people say it is? or is it just because most people have it, so thats why there are more bad comments about it?

I cannot speak for others, but my experience with the XFX 6600GT AGP has been good.

Perform basic system maintenance concerning video card drivers.

Make sure you have at least driver version 67.03 on hand.

Be sure to plug a power lead into the end of the video card.

Oh, one more thing, make sure your power supply meets the requirements.

umm... no!

6600GT cards don't have a power plug ?!

KayKay, MSI is considered to be one of the best video card manufacturers by enthusiasts in Europe (where the market is slightly diferrent), so you can't go wrong with it, even if it's a little more expensive...

the PCIe ones don't the agp ones do. PCIe provides more power to the card then AGP so the extra plug is not needed.
don't get the XFX, why even take a chance with their poor customer service? get the MSI, good price for a great bundle. it comes with 2 full games and alot of other stuff too.
link, good price great place to buy

MSI is a brand i definitely trust, I am using their motherboard and video card currently.

My previous card was an XFX Geforce2 MX400, it served me very well for 2 years.

Also, unfortunately newegg doesn't ship to canada
Does anyone have anything to say about the gigabyte card? The price is very attractive to me, and it still stands as my #1 choice at this point.

I like my MSI 6600 GT (did think about other types of 6600 GT but needed VIVO so got the MSI), I have always found MSI hardware to be very reliable and previously owned the MSI 5900 XT, MSI GF4 Ti4200 and MSI GF4 MX440.

I already have a capture card, so i don't think i will be needing the VIVO feature of the MSI Card.
I read 2 reviews for the Gigabyte Card, and it overclocks very well, something like 595/1204

and

The cooling looks very good, and the price is the best of the lot ! :)

I originally was going to get the XFX, but my concern is what happens if it were to mess up, I don't want to wait for months for the RMA to process.

Well, I'm not really saying no XFX because of RMA,

as it stands the gigabyte is my choice because of price, but xfx is my backup. MSI, i guess will be third.

My main concern was that the XFX had a lot of problems, like customer support doesn't speak english and is terrible in general.
We'll See how it goes. thanks for the comments

Does anyone know anything about the new heatsink/fan that is now shipping on the XFX 6600GT AGP video cards? The XFX website "claims" that there is a 10 to 20 degree improvement in cooling. I was wondering if this is true and was wondering if it is any quiter or louder then the previous heatsink/fan. I've tried to find articles covering this but no luck. This card is looking pretty good with the $25 rebate (limited vendor). I appreciate anyones help.....

I've heard mixed things about the new fan, some say its better, some say its worse. Guess you won't know till you try it.

On another note, i decided to get the BFG 6600GT OC AGP instead of the ones I listed above.

is good!
