Which 6600GT AGP to get?

I'm deciding between the following AGP graphics cards:

BFG 6600GT OC AGP Dual DVI
XFX 6600GT AGP Dual DVI

They are both in my price range of <$250 and I want the dual DVI capability. I've read reviews on the XFX card and complaints about it's fan being too loud. Not many reviews out on the BFG card though.

Also, I don't play games, so these cards might be a little overkill for me. I know that Matrox and HIS make dual DVI cards for a little bit cheaper, but they are older technology (unless someone can convince me otherwise that these older cards are good enough for me).

Any suggestions, comments, etc.?

Go with BFG just because of lifetime warranty & 24/7 tech support. IIRC, BFG uses the nVidia reference cooler; so it can't be too bad. If you don't play games then why are you buying a new video card? If you're specifically looking for dual-DVI, then these are probably the only ones in that price range. Look at the regular 6600 & maybe even the 6200 as well.

I just bought the BFG 6600GT OC agp version. It's a nice card but it sure is loud. I don't know how it compares to other 6600GT cards, though. I've ordered the Zalman VF700 VGA cooler, so hopefully that helps out.

If you can get the original version of the XFX, it's not bad on the sound. Everyone's complaining about the new one being insane, but the original is definately tolerable I think. And I too just put in an order for the VF700-AlCu, it's gonna be fun seeing if the Zalman heatsink (1) fully sits above the gpu, & (2) avoids the pcie-agp bridge heatsink. =Þ

I'm building a completely new computer, so that's why I'm buying a new video card. I am leaning towards the BFG card, since it has a lifetime warranty and is factory OC'ed. I didn't know that the BFG card is loud, but I don't think noise won't be that much of an issue for me (hopefully). Either way, I'm sure I'll be happy with either card. And the $30 price difference isn't that much to me...

Thanks for all the responses, I'll let you know what I'll be getting soon enough...

Well, I just ordered the XFX card. I got it for $70 less than the BFG card, so that pretty much convinced me. Check out www.buy.com. They have the XFX card with a $25 mail-in rebate. Thanks everyone for your opinions.

I have a similar requarements:
1. Minimum noise
2. Dual DVI
3. HDTV support
4. Temperature monitoring

The following are avaliable
_________________________________________________________
Name...............................#DVI.......HDTY.......Temp.........Noise
_________________________________________________________
BFG 6600 GT OC....................2............Yes.........Yes............High
XFX GF 6600 GT.....................2..............No.........Yes..........Very High

PNY Verto 6600 GT................2.............Yes..........?..............? (reference design)

So PNY is an option. Any comments or information re PNY?

The BFG doesn't work with the temperature tab in the Nvidia driver panel.

BFG. Try using TEMP DOCTOR OC to monitor your temperature settings. That's what I use since my damn MSI 6600GT AGP doesn't have a celsius monitor.
