Which 5670? How do you choose?

Still deciding between GT240, Radeon 5570 or Radeon 5670.

May depend on what deals I find. I am not a gamer.

I see a bunch of 5670s on Newegg.....all stats are similar (some have 512gb while some have 1gb)

How do I choose? Manufacturer (XFX, Sapphire, etc.....is one know to be better and worth paying for?)

1gb vs 512mb.....I've read it doesn't matter much. It looks like one could get the same price for either depending on the mfr.

Crossfire support - says "software" - is that typical on this card?

Price? If they're all the same should I just be looking for cheapest?

Choice is great, but sometimes I'm overwhelmed with the choices. Thanks for the helpful suggestions.

Also even though it says 400W PSU MINIMUM, I assume I'm ok with the Antec EA380? Seems like the Radeon 5000s are pretty low wattage

Yes, you are more than ok.

Basically. One thing to look for are the video output connectors; you'll want the card to have the outputs you need. This is mostly a concern if you are doing a multi-monitor setup. The other important thing is probably the heatsink/fan. You probably want to target a card that isn't loud.

The other specs of the card shouldn't matter. The memory won't make a difference for you.

And this really goes for any of the cards you mentioned. Since you're not a gamer, they should all work just as equally.

What about this XFX? Its got 1gb for about the same price ($69.99 AR FS) as the Sapphire 512mbs ($64.99 AR + a few bucks shipping). Has a larger rebate portion so I guess that is more of a "risk". Also comes with Displayport. XFX says Lifetime Warranty vs Sapphire is 2 yrs.

A few of the Newegg reviews said the fan was loud, but generally the reviews were good.

At this price it seems a no brainer to get 5670 vs 5570 right? (they're not much cheaper).

Only other option is that EVGA GT240 which has a $40 Rebate and ends up $41 AR.

What would you guys suggest? I feel the Radeon is a better package but would you go $70 for the XFX Radeon 5670 or $41 for the EVGA GT240?

A 5570 is perfect. Like the one linked above ^^^^^^

Thats a 5770, not 5570, and its still over $100. Probably is a powerful card but maybe more than I need.

If I found a 5570 for 40-50 I'd prob do it, but it seems the GDDR5 on the 5670 gives it better performance, and therefore if its only $5-10 more to get 5670 it seems a better all-in value to me at least

What specifically do you want to use the card for?? If it is just for watching video, the GT240 at about 40.00 seems like a good deal. But the 5670 is a decent value also since the price has come down.

Just watching video and video editing. Only reason to pay more would be for the future JUST IN CASE if my kids (or I) want to be able to do any gaming. But we already have PS3 and Wii and limited time, so its prob not too likely.
