I'm seeing a lot of good things about the (non OC version) Twin Frozr, but the PNY looks good too. I'm looking to hit about $200 before shipping, and not from Newegg because they charge me 9% sales tax.

Is $200-250 the best that can be done on these, and do they really compete with a 6870? I'm seeing a 6870 now for $189 and a $20 rebate.

Find the games you play, the resolution you play at, and see how they compare.

I'll do a little bit of searching for prices, but I'm assuming in the US because you mentioned Newegg?

Also, forgot to mention - The comparisons are at stock clocks for both cards. So any factory overclocked cards will perform better, usually...

Do you include rebates in your final purchase price?

What are you upgrading from and have you considered the option of waiting until 28nm GPUs arrive?

Thanks guys. Yes, I'm in the US and doing a fresh build, but I want to be able to play Bad Company 2 now until BF3 drops. Maybe some Stalker games again for the nostalgia + experience.

I like rebates but am wary of them. I've been burned a few times, sometimes my fault for being tardy, sometimes not.

Mobo Gigabyte Z68A-D3H-B3 Intel Z68 Motherboard
Processor Intel Core i5-2500K
RAM 16GB Patriot Gamer, (sold the Vengeance on craigslist for what I paid for, shwing)
SDD Intel 320 series SSD
PSU XFX Pro Core 550W
Monitor Samsung 24", 1920x1080 native, 60hz

I'm seeing some 6870s for 560ti prices though..

(I estimate $7-9 shipping on all these cards)

$169 after $20 MIR

$169 after $30 MIR

The other 560tis I am looking at are:

PNY, good brand, $204 after rebate

MSI Twin Frozr, everyone seems to love these, but $239, no rebates

On the plus side, Tigerdirect is only going to be charging me $4 in shipping for a card and no tax :)

I'd choose the Gigabyte 560 Ti over the PNY because of the cooler, and they both have the same rebate. Same overclock as well...

The first 6870 is at stock clocks, which may be something you'd like if you plan to OC yourself. The second one is a LONG card, make sure it will fit in your case. It is about 11.5" long. And it is only 15MHz above stock clocks...

+1 for the twin frozr, it is what i am currently running. Sure you pay a little more but the lack of noise and the decent temps even at full load speak for themselves. See if you can find them on offer but remember if you can't it is probably because they are selling more than enough at full price.

Big fan of the asus direct cu2 cards just picked up a gtx560 ti and it won't go over 55cel period at 45% fan speed and its silent.

Not to sure why they don't get recommended as much but happy to report its running at 900 core/1800 shader 2100 memory .

The 560 ti is a bit faster than the 6870 and, as you can see above, is typically a better O/C'er The 560ti falls in between the 6870 and 6950. Closer to the 6950, overall.

Check the Galaxy 560ti at SuperBiiz -- $184AR, plus whatever new coupon they add this week.

Asus CUii or Top is comparable to MSI regards twin fan cooling solutions. Both make solid cards in this bracket- its genuinely hard to go wrong.
