Which 4 speaker soundcard has best Win2K/WinXP support

This aureal card drivin me nutX0rs, I need new soundcard, but dont want cheap ass hisses/pops/crackling etc.
Price should be low like under $100. Whadda think?

well the audigy doesnt have xp drivers out YET. but will be out probably before the official release of it..

(or maybe xp has drivers for it already?

anyways i have it in windows 2000 and only problems i have had with it really is installing it. after u finish the installation everything seems to be running great.

BTW acoustic edge had some problems in Windows 2000
just letting u know...

by what ive heard the santa cruz is good also

I am considering the Santa Cruz card... just want to confirm that it runs beautifully with:

-VIA chipsets. Period.
-Windows 2K and XP Pro.
-Doesn`t eat up a lot of CPU.

but with the audigy

i dont have crashing problems with the audigy like i did with the sblive
audigy is great in win 2k and they are going to release win xp drivers (probably soon or they will be built into xp)
audigy is probably atm the lowest cpu utilization sound card out there.

santa cruz ive read has low cpu utilization to.

I don't think the Santa Cruz or the GTXP supports WinXP. I think the newest drivers for the SB Live! cards sort of kind of support WinXP. All manufacturers will be releasing drivers "mid-October" according to different websites.

People claim there are still some problems with the VIA chipsets and the SB cards (Live! and Audigy). So, the only way to get all that stuff fixed is to either flash your BIOS or just buy a Santa Cruz or GTXP. Maybe you should buy the GTXP and upgrade to the AthlonXP with WindowsXP--you'll be all XPed!!

Santa Cruz has Win XP drivers, and it works like a champ in Windows 2000 !

The Santa Crux has supported XP for a LONG TIME. Do a little research bud TB has released 2 beta XP driver sets and just recently released a WHQL set for Windows XP. XP drivers for the GTXP are AWOL.

Dunno about WinXP, but my Santa Cruz runs beautifully under Win2k with my Altec Lansing ACS56. Absolutely no problems at all and the sound is sensational. The current Win2k drivers are superb. Although I never had any problems with my old SBLive X-Gamer (4:1 version) under either Win98/Win2k, I can say that this card is distinctly better in almost all areas. Not to say that my old reliable X-Gamer was bad, just that the SC is better. Had the Herc GTXP for awhile too, but it was buggy as hell with 4 speakers so I took it back.

Like I said, you can HEAR all you want, but the XP drivers have been solid ever since they were in beta. Don't knock it til you've tried it. The drivers are WHQL now for Windows XP so they are CERTIFIED by Microsoft and meet Microsoft's requirements. They are digitally stamped by Microsoft. What more do you want?

What more do I want? Working drivers (I mean--fully working and not just stable) for the GTXP. I, frankly, don't care for the Santa Cruz--great card but no type of breakout box.

I'll pass along your info though--I know a dude that has some crazy ass nasty sound coming from using some type of beta driver for the Santa Cruz...if he is using the latest betas for the card, PM will be coming your way in like 10 minutes or so....

Just b/c your GTXP has crap XP support doesn't mean that it has to be the same for the Santa Cruz My SC has performed great with CD's, MP3, and games in Win2k and WinXP.
