Which- 3800x2 or opteron 1212?

Would a 1212 be a noticable upgrade over a 3800x2? Thanks

Definitely not. As a matter of fact, they run at exactly the same speed. The only difference is the Opteron has twice the L2 cache, but that's only "worth" 75-100 Mhz of performance with the AMD processors. Save your money until you can afford a real upgrade.

The opty *may* OC better since server chips are more rigorously tested, but definitely not enough of a difference to motivate the upgrade.

Yeah i run my 38 at 2.63, the guy who has the 1212 says he runs it at 2.9
