i know most people will chose the western RPG but im a huge FF fan and not sure im gonna like them. (couldn't get into oblivion but didnt give it that much time either)

As a FF fan Lost odyssey seems the way to go but Eternal Sonata seems fun too and less of a commitment, which is good because i dont know if want to embark on a game that is FF length.

Mass Effect and Fallout seems pretty similar, but im not sure if they will fulfill my RPG side.

I think Fable 2 might be a good choice because everyone seems to love it and seems pretty fun. Should i have played the first one though or does it not matter?

Eternal Sonata is pretty shallow and unfulfilling. I would same the same about Fable 2 as well.

If you want a JRPG, I would go with Lost Odyssey. Almost every aspect of the game is great, and some parts moved me almost to tears. It's lengthy, but it kept me entertained.

For a WRPG, choosing between Mass Effect and Fallout 3 is a bit difficult. I would say either is fine, but I would suggest getting FO3 for PC if possible...

Lost Odyssey, ME, and FO3 are all great games. I would think you would be happy with any of them. Lost Odyssey is probably a safer bet, but if you are willing to gamble a bit more I would fully recommend Mass Effect and Fallout 3 as well.

If you like FF you'll like Lost Odyssey. It's a great JRPG. Mass Effect is a shooter/RPG hybrid that has strong RPG components e.g. heavy focus on plot and dialog (which are great), kinda like Deus Ex if you've played that. Excellent game IMO. FO3 I haven't played, but it looks like an action RPG like Oblivion i.e. more focus on game play than plot/dialog/character development. If you didn't like Oblivion you may not like FO3.

No opinion on the other two.

I voted ME. Wish there were more sci-fi RPGs.

I'm at the tail end of Lost Odyssey and it's great. There are some things about it that may annoy the hell out of you when you first start playing if you think TOO much of it being like a FF game, but by the time you get 20 or so hours in you'll hopefully get over it.

If you're the type of person that is a completionist then be aware that I just hit 80 hours and I expect at least 5-10 more... maybe a little more than that if I decide to overdo the leveling ;).

When playing Lost Odyssey I swore I was playing an RPG out of the Final Fantasy universe. Turns out it wasn't even made by Square Enix. Sure could have fooled me. If you are looking for another FF you won't be disappointed by Lost Odyssey.

I voted for LO because of your FF-loving tendencies, but you really aren't going to go very wrong with any of the games on that list. Eternal Sonata is perhaps the weakest, though.

Yea im crazy about getting everything in the game/best stats possible so im just worried about becoming glued to my couch with no motivation to get up or do anything lol. Thats why i was considering sonata or fable because they seem shorter.

I just played FFX again and spend a crap load of hours maxing out stats (re-arrangeing the sphere grid) so you can see how crazy i am.

Fallout 3, Lost Odyssey, Mass Effect

That would be my order of recommendation for RPGs in general. Though if you're a FF fan, you'll probably like Lost Odyssey the most.

Fallout 3. Period. But do NOT get it on your console. Your PC is plenty strong to play it a 1080p (without AA though). Even a few simple mods make the game a lot more enjoyable. And you can't use those on your console.

Did all the people voting/recommending Fallout 3 even read the potential issues Nvidiaguy07 brought up in the OP? No one seems to be addressing them while blindly recommending FO3...

I loved FF7. I like Fable 2 but it's... well.. very light. I also played Fallout 3. I'd recommend F3 for the PC without hesitation.

I have heard from a reliable source that Lost Odyssey is one of the best JRPG's he's ever played (and I prefer JRPGs over western RPGS)

Not sure if Fable falls into RPG (I guess action rpg) but I loved it. Might be my game of the year. So that's my vote

I haven't played Fable 2, but the first one was meh, and the 2nd didn't look that much better. I'll rent it some day I'm sure.
Lost Oddysey is a pure RPG but got real boring for me quickly. The CG is amazing though.
Mass Effect was so-so for me. Pretty decent overall.
Fallout 3 is lots of fun. I'm only 4 hours into it, but enjoying it. I heard that its kinda short overall though.
And never touched eternal sonata.
