1. American History X - the greatest thing about this movie is that it makes the skinheads' views reasonable, then tears them down.
2. Taxi Driver - amazing performances, script, and directing. Wouldn't have been the same without composer Bernard Herrmann, you can tell he was part of this film without even looking at the credits.
3. Requiem for a Dream - the growing problem of drug addiction has never more accurately been explored
