Oh no, no, no, no, no, no.........no, lol. Not me. I can change the oil and air filter, but thats about it. Working on engines.............I live that to the pros. 🙂

I've watched a few video clips in youtube (as one of you sugested). What are your thoughts on the following clip:

It seemed that it was effortless for the Doge to dominate the Ford.

Here is another video or a Ford vs Dodge. Not only does the Dodge wins it, the Fords trans __________(you fill in the blank).

On this type of "competition" is it the driver's skill that leads to that sort of outcome? Or is it the engine/trans combo in each truck?

ps: I'm not bias in anyway.

This doesn't tell you anything. The drivers skill, types of tires, and weight distribution all account for more in the outcome than drivetrain and power.

LOL, enjoyed those videos, they don't mean jack though 🙂

Well after hearing so much about the diesel engines from you guys I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that my next truck will have one. I know a state trooper (no, not because he has pulled me over, he is one of my customers) that when he is off duty he drives the used trucks from a big local dealer. He drives a different truck pretty much every other day from that dealer. Anyhow, I told him that I might start looking for a diesel truck. He told me that he could probably help me with that because every so often the dealer would get a nice diesel truck with low miles on it. I asked him from what/where? Older guys with money. He replied. Yep, they get a truck and drive it around for a few months to a year and they trade it in for something else. Just give me a little bit of time and I'll hook you up, he said.

Well today I noticed this nice F250, diesel, 4x4, 4 doors, tinted windows, and the big King Ranch plate on it pulling in into our parking lot at work. I thought to myself "Damn thats a nice looking truck." Guess who gets out of that truck? Yep, the state trooper. The truck is an '06 model and has a little over 24,000 miles on it. The overall condition of the body was perfect. The interior was incredible. The only drawback was the bed....its short (6') and I would like the long one. Granted its a nice truck, I found it to be to nice for my taste. I still asked him for a price. He called the dealer and they came back with a $36,900. I dont think thats a bad deal. I looked it up in kbb and it came back with alittle over 39k. However, I can get a new 3/4 ton Dodge for the same price as the '06 King Ranch. It might not have the leather seats.............but I can deal with that.

4 doors with a long bed is a bit hard to find. At least they were when I was shopping in 00-01. We had to buy new. All we could find used were work trucks that were beat to heck.

One of my parent's friends a 5ft 90 pound chick drove a 4 door long bed chevy diesel truck. I always thought it was funny seeing that little lady hop out of that long as a school bus truck. I don't think I would want to drive something like that daily.

As Drnick said, crew cab long bed's are a little harder to find than short beds. With an 8' bed, a crew cab is a very long truck. Almost 22 feet long and weighs 3 1/2 tons......

If that is not what you want, keep looking and have your trooper buddy keep looking. You should find what you want eventually.

Keep in mind that unless you have a large shop or carport, the truck will have to stay outside. My quad cab long bed is 1' too long to fit in a normal garage.

Driving around town isn't too bad, you just have to be aware of the size. After you run over a curb or two, you learn to take a turn a little wider.

Yep, my extended cab long bed is a bitch to park, love the extra bed length though, wouldn't want a short bed personally.

I have driven my boss' (happens to be my best friend also 🙂 ) 1ton chevy, 4 door, long bed. It is indeed a long ass vehicle. But I would not mind having the extra room in the bed (some how that does not sound right, LOL). My Dodge has the short bed. So many times I've wished it was a little longer (that does not sound right either). You guys get my point.
