Which 2TB hard drive?

I just bought two of the 2TB Samsung F4 drives about a week ago. From what I read about them, appears they have 3 platters of 667GB apiece, and so far I'm happy with them as storage drives. I haven't used any of the WD drives so can't comment there.

They are all good drives that will not break down like maxtor or seagate or hitachi drives.

Go with pricing. 100 dollars or you want to go 130 and get the black wdc either way your going to get a solid drive, just take care of it and keep temps in 30's on idle and it will live a long time like this see.. and still tickin btw

For secondary storage i always get the cheapest at the capacity i want, speed is pretty irrelevant for this kind of storage.

For reliability you need backups.

Heat noise i've heard WD Green are good. I have two myself but i've never been one to care about having a silent computer and have lots of case fans so i'm not the right person to ask. For what it's worth I've never heard any of my hard drives except the raptors.

There is a head park "issue" with some WD drives, due to the power saving features of the drive. My 2TB EADS drive is at 60000 Load cycles with 4900 power on hours. That's quite a bit but they're rated for 300k LCC so its not exactly going to be a problem for a while(had the drive for over a year now).
Regardless, there is a firmware flash utilty on WD's site that lets you fix this. If you search this forum or their site i'm sure you'll find a link. It's called "wdidle".
