I have to upgrade from an 8800GT SC, it burned out this week. Ill be sending it in due to lifetime warrenty, but its for a 2nd computer. At this point its easier to upgrade and use my older 8800GTS in my wifes computer.

I have decided on a 275 GTX as the price range is decent. I am debating between these two cards.

275 GTX SC 896 MB

275 GTX 1792 MB

the SC is just a factory overclock, so the question boils down to is double the memory worth it for 50$? I generally run in 1920x1200 @ 60MHZ on a 24" widescreen monitor, and play most of the latest games, fallout 3, TF,COW 4 etc etc. Any help is appreciated.

I would say go for the 896, I doubt you would notice that much of a difference in the current games at that resolution.

1) How long do you plan to keep the card?
2) How much is $50 worth to you?

That second question is particularly pertinent as we can't really say if it's worth $50 until we know what that's worth to you. I personally wouldn't think twice about it as $50 isn't much to me but if it is to you, I would go for the 896 one.

go with the GTX 275 OC, you will have more than enough for what you need. The card get's a little hot after a Crysis workout but just adjust the default fan profile 40% to ~ 60% and your good to go.

I have a 275 running my 1920x1200 just fine. I doubt, unless you play GTA4 at insanely high settings, you'll need the extra memory.

Or Oblivion with that insane texture pack.
