Which 1GHz processor?

I'm looking for a relatively cheap processor upgrade (sorry, no AMD please, don't want to remove motherboard) so I'm wondering which is the better processor (considering price/performance ratio) - Celeron 1GHz or Pentium III 1GHz. The PIII 1GHz is definitely faster but it also costs 2X as much as the Celeron (from the place I'm getting it). Is the performance difference so much that paying 2X as much for a PIII 1GHz is worth more than a cheaper Celeron 1GHz?

i will get the p3 for 256k L2 cache. If u are considering higher clock speed, u can consider the new celeron with 256k L2 cache . There is a difference in performance for 128k L2 cache and 256k L2 cache . I will pay more for better performance, ofcourse that is just my opinion.
