If you have tested both, which do you prefer? Samsung SyncMaster 900NF or Sony MultiScan CPD-E400P?

I'm aware that this is a very personal question but that is what I would like to know, what do owners of flat 19" monitors think?
I buying one flat 19"next week so I would like some feed back from real users. I also live in Sweden, prices are a bit different here.
I mostly use my computer for sufing and games.

HI
I also live in Sweden and own a Sony G200p. I have compared the Sont against the Samsung 700NF. These are both 17-inch monitors but the only difference from the monitors you mentioned is in size, otherwise the same tubes.
The Sony is sharper than Samsung. However the E400 can only manage 75Hz in 1600x1200 resolution and the Samsung can handle 85Hz at this resolution. But at this resolution everything is very small, so if you are not going to use this resolution the Sony is in my opinion the the better monitor. Another thing: the Sony is the flattest monitor you can find. The Samsung seems flat but they have a slightly curved tube (mitsubishi DiamondTron) with a flat glass over it and my experience is that it does look a bit bent in the corners. This is why I bought the Sony because the picture is not bent in the corners!
Hope this have helped you

I own a Hitachi CM721F 19" flatscreen CRT. It's awesome, and affordable. $ 249.00 at newegg.(Not sure in Swede money)

CM721F 19"? Is that really flat screen? Isn't it just a regular screen with flat glas?

I have heard that G-series are better but I'm not willing to pay that much so the choice is pretty much between above two.

I wouldn't say the G-series is necessarily better...900NF specs are right up there with the G-series.....

The Samsung because Sony's CS and warrantee sucks! They wanted to fix and not replace a brand new G420. I told them to stuff it and returned it to the place I bought it from.

Truthfully, if the specs are similar, the monitors should be very similiar if you get a good one. One that isn't damaged in shipping or one that hasn't passed by the poor QC dept. When I started monitor shopping 2 months ago, I was shocked at the poor QC of monitors these days. You can stand two identical monitors side by side and see differences. It's that bad.

My advice if you're not worried about price is buy locally and see the exact monitor that you're going to be living with before you take it home. If not, buy from a place that has an excellent return exchange policy. Don't trust Sony. If you have problems the 2nd day you have a Sony, they will want you to take it to a repair facility and wait 6 weeks for it. I'm not sure what Samsung is, but I think they have an exchange policy. I'd check.

I would definitely go to a CompUSA or another computer store and personally check out these monitors. It is a matter of personal taste, and what one person calls a sharp picture may be unacceptable for you.

CompUSA has at least 10 monitors on display, some of them Sony, Samsung and Nec. Staples, OfficeMax and OfficeDepot, and CircuitCity carry monitors as well.
