I was looking around CL for a used one and found this

15.4" / 2.2GHz / 120GB HDD / 4GB RAM / 8600m GPU / Matte Screen

$800

Good idea or just stick with a new 13" refurb?

Unless you're a Masochist, AVOID all Nvidia 8600m equipped macbooks/laptops. Majority will require a logic board replacement in the future!

you're better off getting todays update. the gpu is a lot faster and you get 4GB of ram, larger hd, a lot better battery life, and cpu bumps. either the $1199 or $1499 is fine. however, keep in mind that you can use the education discount if you order online (apple doesnt check if you're a student if you order online), so the prices will effectively be $1099 and $1399, at least for my school it is.

Way to beat the system mate
