Can anyone offer any opinions on which 10" Android tablet is best for a budget of under $300 (actually £200 here in the UK but about the same)?

Currently looking at the following possibilities, starting with the cheapest:

Hannspree SN1AT71
Nurvo
Sumvision Cyclone Voyager (2Gb)
Lenovo S6000
Asus MeMo Pad ME102A
Toshiba Excite At10-A-104

I have put together a list of differences in hardware specs:

Sumvision Cyclone Voyager II (2Gb)

CPU: A9 Quad-core, Rockchip 3188 1600MHz
Camera: 2.0 / 5.0
Connectivity: WiFi (802.11b/g/n), bluetooth 4.0
Interfaces: USB, micro SD, HDMI
Sensors: G Sensor, (add 3G dongle for GPS service)

Lenovo S6000
CPU: MTK 8125 Quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 1.20GHz
Camera: 0.3 / 5.0
Connectivity: Wifi (11.b/g/n), bluetooth 4.0
Interfaces: Micro USB, micro SD, micro HDMI
Sensors: GPS, Accelerometer, Proximity, Compass
Asus MeMo Pad ME102A
CPU: RK101 Quad Core 1.66GHz
Camera: 1.2 / 2.0
Connectivity: Wifi, bluetooth 3.0
Interfaces: Micro USB 2.0, micro SD
Sensors: G-Sensor, E-compass, Hall sensor
Toshiba Excite At10-A-104
CPU: Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core, 1.3Mhz
Camera: 1.2 / 3.0
Connectivity: Wifi (802.11a/b/g/n), bluetooth 4.0
Interfaces: Micro USB 2.0, micro SD, micro-HDMI
Sensors: 3D Acceleration sensor, GPS, Gyroscopic Sensor, e-Compass

Any advantages/disadvantages of each which might help narrow the selection?

Thanks,
Nick

You want to avoid tegra 3 and the mediatek and any other A7 designs. The rockchip should be the fastest but I'd be worried about games not running correctly. I am using a qualcomm msm8960 and despite being a hugely common cpu/gpu, it still wont run some games. It is odd that you dont list screen resolutions.

but if you need an android tablet Toshiba would be my first choice because of Tegra 3 and then the ASUS.

Didn't bother listing as all same screen resolution: 1280*800.

You say to avoid Tegra 3 and other A7 designs so I guess that takes out the Lenovo and Toshiba ones then?

iPad 2 3g beyond the budget, also looking for an Android device rather than iOS.

Interesting, you suggest the Toshiba with that Tegra 3 is ok whereas sm625 suggested avoiding it because of that.

Seems to me like all three of them have some negatives, I just don't know how important each one is:
Lenovo - ARM Cortex-A7 1.20GHz, DDR2 as opposed to DDR3
Asus - Bluetooth 3.0 not 4.0, no HDMI, 2.0Mp camera
Toshiba - Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core, 1.3Mhz

Yeah, I'd go with the Toshiba as well. I think a Tegra 3 chip is probably the best thing you'll find in a 10 inch tablet this cheap. I did see a blog post benchmarks for the Rockchip and it does beat the Tegra 3, but nobody uses that chip and there is probably a reason for it. Not mention it's in a tablet called the Sumvision Cyclone Voyager II, that name scares me.

In that case, unless that Sumvision II turns out to be something special, I guess I will be buying the Toshiba then.

Many thanks for your advise.

Geez, stuff is way more expensive over there. The Asus Memo FHD, which would be my cheap recommendation, is $250 here but £300 there. Ouch.

Yeah things must be expensive over there. You can get an ipad 2 3g for 200 easily on craigslist. Good luck OP. I like the tegra 3 because of support and popularity. The more popular a device is on android the more likely apps can work with it.

Some people disagree with me on this but ever since I switched to Samsung my issues magically disappeared in the software department. I can only imagine what it must be like to have a nexus device. I would switch today if that had sd cards and cdma phones.

$250 = £150, that is well within budget but I wonder how much shipping would add to that. Problem is what happens if it doesn't work or something goes wrong, shipping it back to the US could be prohibitively expensive.

Anyone know of a tablet supplier in the US that could ship to the UK?
