Check this out... It took me about 3 hours with the soldering iron, my trusty flux, heat-sink holder, solder remover, and my laptop for guidance. I had to go to Radio Shack and buy a bunch of wrapping wire (the white wire) because the wires they gave me weren't near long enough for the connections that went around the rear of the motherboard.
I was so nervous after I finally put it back together (took about 30 minutes just to get it back together)... The modchip was $70. The PS2 was $150 (used). The wrapping wire was $1.99. A working PS2 that does not require any sort of swapping and region-free dvd playing.... Priceless.
I seriously doubt that more than 50% of the people that order those modchips are successful at installing them. There are just so many things that can go wrong.
BTW, yes.. it does work perfectly... Now it won't matter if my PS2 games get all scratched up because everyone and their mother hangs out at my apartment.
Hehe.. whew.. what a b!tch!
