This applies to everything. Psycho was remade. Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" will now forever be known as Puff Daddy's "Come With Me". Phil Collins' classic "Take Me Home" now is known as the background music in Bone Thugz n Harmony's nicely titled "Home". I dont care if the original artists helped these guys. My question is where is the originality? I mean, ok music is complicated. Don't get me wrong. There are only so many chord changes available and they all have been done basically. But its what bands DO with the chords that makes it unique. Covers should only happen if the band is live, if at all. I mean, I dont mind if songs sound similiar. But if its an EXACT COPY of a song only something else is added, it sort of pisses me off. Basically im saying I hate Puff Daddy's/P. Diddy's/P. Dooky's joke of a career.

As for movies, I dont care what anyone says, good movies simply should not be remade. It will take WAY too much to get to the point where it is as good of a quality if better than the original film. If it ain't broke, dont fix it. Thats just my $0.02, spend it how you want.
 
I never go see movies anymore. If there were a local theater that showed the original good stuff, I'd be there often. As it is, everything I see nowdays is utter crap, and I rent films from the video store.

😛 You know what I meant. Everything I've seen in the theaters is utter crap (with a few notable exceptions, such as Matrix), and I rent movies as an alternative.
 
The thing that bugs me is that people actually think these bands have done something "revolutionary" to music. It just drives me nuts when people think that Puff Daddys the end-all-be-all to music.
 
You should stop wasting your time listening to mainstream music, there is plenty of great, ORIGINAL music around, it's just not popular.

believe me... i give a lot of unpopular bands a listen... i got a bunch of friends who know garage bands and they are always giving me cds of their friends' stuff.... some of it is decent... some of it just doesnt fit my taste. doesnt mean its bad, just I dont enjoy it. Music in general isnt BAD. You either like it or don't. its an opinion. Doesnt mean other people are wrong for liking it.
 
if your looking for original rap then check out more underground stuff. check out blackalicious, rjd2, jugaknots, cunninlynguists, cannibal ox, JURASSIC 5!
 
rock music is just as guilty. Though people ripping riffs and stuff from other rock artists never really get much attention.

this cd set is essential if you wanna hear original recordings that have been covered or sampled ..

about 160 songs.. good stuff .. i put them all in and tried to figure out who covered and sampled what .. it's fun with a group of friends.
 
well like i said, its pretty much impossible for a song not to sound like another one chord wise... there are only so many combinations groups can do. I dont mind similar sounding songs. But if its like the stuff ive mentioned before, that kind of stuff pisses me off. I mean i can get through the song ok because i like the original one, but it doesnt sit well with me... I mean often i make musical connections such as Bob Dylan's "Make you feel my love" goes through the same chords as Frankie Valli's "Cant take my Eyes off of You" for most of the song.... that i dont mind because its not like the same exact background.... but oh well
 
As much as I hate P. Diddy for sampling in his songs, his albums are just a small part of his career. He does more producing for other artists than himself. The man's talented, and it's sad that you can't see that.

Im not dissing his producing... im dissing his "OWN" songs... That side of P. Diddy is what pisses me off.
