One of the biggest problems with many in the younger generations is that they flat out demand respect from others but feel no need to show any respect to anyone else.

Aaron Hernandez is at a night club and someone spills a drink on him by accident and the consequence is the person that spilled a drink on him gets shot.

This behavior happens almost everyday and I think plays a role in many of the police altercations that go badly.

So the Jets have another guy that felt disrespected and just had to solve the problem by cold cocking his QB. How well did this turn out for either of them or for the team?

Brian

I wouldn't equate what Hernandez did as some sort of respect he felt determined to get. The guy was a gangster. It is funny when he was first brought up on charges some "celebrity gang members" were talking about him having a Bloods tattoo and saying he wasn't a real gangster. Then it came out he killed, while playing football, at least 3 people. The guy's dad was a gangster and so was Aaron.

The quote is that Gabbert is a "beautiful piece." I can't disagree. Gabbert is indeed pretty dreamy.

Reports on Geno now indicated that he got up in IK's face and provoked him.

Eyewitnesses told the Daily News that Geno Smith was "was up in (IK Enemkpali’s) face and pointed/touched his face" and "deserved it."
Sources told the New York Post that Enemkpali was furious at Smith for failing to reimburse the $600 that the linebacker shelled out for airline tickets and limos for Smith to attend a July 11 football camp for kids. Geno backed out a few days before the event due to the death of his brother's best friend. Regardless of the circumstances, breaking the starting quarterback's jaw in two places is never warranted. Although it seems some in the Jets' locker room don't see it that way. "That’ll get a man hit every time, especially one that hasn’t earned respect," a source said about the finger pointing.

Seems like Geno deserved to get at least bitch slapped. But NFL players are a bit stronger than the avg person so punching was probably a little extreme. Just pimp slap him or shove him to the ground.

Geno Smith threw the first punch but missed by 5 yards

And yeah, sounds like he had that punch coming. Yes, good idea Gino, you're a little scrawny POS pissing off a giant LBer. Solid life move. Hope being a douche was worth it.

not only did he refuse to pay him back he said something to the effect "nothing you can do about it" right before he got punched.

When the story first broke i felt bad for Geno. now? after finding out how big a dick he was to him? fuck that. the punch was overboard but i can't fault him.

Fuck geno. I won't be suprised if they cut Geno and he does not get rehired

Does not look good for Geno if reports are true:

1. Geno Smith has made $3mm in the NFL in 2 season, including a $2mm signing bonus and was due another $500k this season plus almost $300k roster bonus. Through this season Geno is slated to make over $4mm over his first 3 season. IK Enemkpali? He is a second year "roster bubble" player who made less than $500k. Nothing to sneeze at but once you considered taxes and costs for training and the year put into his craft which will almost certainly be a short career he certainly isn't "set" or a "millionaire" as some have reported.

2. QB's are quasi-management. They are protected, both on and off the field. A smart, franchise QB realizes the precarious divide they straddle and would know they owe their teammates the utmost respect and consideration as they are all commodities easily dumped.

That said... sounds like:

Geno borrowed $600 from Ik

Geno refused to repay Ik the money he borrowed

>> This was a big no-no for Geno. His privileged position dictates, as a good leader, he work this out.

Ik confronted Geno (we don't know if Ik took an aggressive posture...)

Geno got in Ik's face (retaliated?) and wagged his finger said he won't get his money back

Ik is obviously being disrespected at this point. Geno ripped him off and was flaunting his status--what recourse did Ik have to get his money back? Ik could possibly be cut whereas Geno makes more money, is pampered, and is walking all over him.

If this scenario is what took place => Jet's need to cut bait with Geno Smith.

If this is true I don't care if he looked to have potential at the end of last season, he obviously lacks the sensibility and leadership skills required to get his teammates to rally behind him.

A franchise QB needs to carry himself better. Seattle saw this last year when anonymous teammates said Wilson wasn't "black enough." That could have tanked the team. It is obvious that in Seattle not everyone likes each other. Baldwin/Tate were dissenting about Harvin the week he was traded for yet Richardson and Matthews continue to go on record saying Harvin was a great teammate and the only vet to help them out early on. Conflicts happen, people don't like each other. But there is a fine line of dislike and disrespect.

Geno clearly doesn't understand he should never, ever threaten his teammates, let alone a bubble player. A team is 53 players. I couldn't imagine the rest of the team rallying behind Geno after treating Ik that way. They may not like that Ik hurt the team and be mad he took it too far (could even be prosecuted) but it sounds like that Geno is not viewed as a victim and instead solidifies the conclusion that he is a loser and want him gone.

I cannot say I blame them.

Talent or not, Tebow is a prime example of the role model. Geno is a twit who throws interceptions like they're going out of style.

Impressions from the Broncos/Seahawks pre-season game so far:

- Osweiler looks worthy to take over as Broncos quarterback if necessary. (Knocks on wood that it won't be necessary this season.)
- Barf Barth still can't kick off. And Mc[-the-]Mannis kicked nice long field goals. I think he should be the One Kicker.
- Ball looks a lot like a Ball from a few years back - runs straight and bounces. [down]Hillman is running very well, breaking tackles Ball wouldn't.

Geno Smith report. So Geno is taunting Ik over the $600 owed and basically Well, 31 teams are glad they don't have him on their roster.

The Sports Pickle is reporting that the injury could cause Geno to miss as many as 18 to 30 interceptions.

From what I read of the situation, Geno Smith promised to attend a charity event that Ik was hosting. Ik paid for the $600 plane ticket. Geno backed out, supposedly from a death to someone close to him, and Ik wanted his money back. Geno at that point basically told Ik to go shove it where the sun don't shine and finally, Ik cold-cocked him.

Personally, from where I stand, Geno should have attended the event on his own dime if he was going. All he had to do as payment was tell Ik to treat him to a steak dinner or something. That creates good will between the team and word like that gets around the locker room. I mean, Geno makes millions of dollars, he can afford to spend less than $600 to attend a charity event for a teammate. Especially when teammate makes peanuts compared to the potential salary of a star NFL QB. As it is, Geno seriously impaired his ability to stay a starting QB and just looks like an idiot. Huge loss for Geno over $600.

With that said, I don't think it was Geno's fault for not being able to attend the charity event, you don't really go in thinking one of your friends will die soon. Where Geno made the mistake was he could have handled the situation better.

Could God create a hole big enough that even Trent Richardson couldn't help but see it?

Hadn't even watched a Buccs game in a long while.

The wife had it on last night, I knew they were redoing the helmets, but the rest of the uniforms really sucked.

Not sure what they were thinking, must have been that they would get again like they did after they dumped the pumpkin colors long ago.

Unfortunately for Tebow, regardless of his leadership and locker room boosting abilities (if they exist), he is in a position that requires talent. Teams don't carry 3 QBs anymore. If Tebow was at literally any other position, his attitude could go a very long way in him staying on teams.

I honestly think Tebow should convert to being a hybrid FB/TE and occasionally spell QB trick plays.

RG3 says "I feel like I'm the best quarterback in the league". Time to bump up Kirk Cousin's ADP in your fantasy draft.

"I don't feel like I have to come out here and show anybody anything or why I'm better than this guy or better than that guy," Griffin told Alex Parker of WJLA. "It's more about going out and affirming that for me, I go out and I play, I know I'm the best quarterback on this team. I feel like I'm the best quarterback in the league and I have to go out and show that."
