is there no one out there that has at least a color pcb? seems like only ati is going color, and any company have a better stock cooling solution then what looks like the reference desgin or would i have to go after market.

looking at the 3d fuzion card thats at tiger direct for under 300 bucks for a stock 7800gt.

but if there something good looking i'l like it.

sorry if people don't get the whole looks thing, but i do not think its too much to ask for to have something perform and look good.

I like things to look good as well... but that's iffy witha video card. Why? The video card is always upside down.

Yeah you're right. Earlier today I was opening my case to admire my CPU and my Graphics card... gonna get a window and watch the card instead of actually playing! 😕

i think of it like a nice car sure my pos rust bucket can come with a 800 hp, but it still looks ugly. gets the job done but u know, be nicer if it looked good 2

Here you go dude-

^ That Leadtek one looks cool. The airflow direction looks kind of weird (seems to blow 'everywhere,' vs a single direction, which is nowhere near as good). Still probably cools pretty decently with the heatpipes and large fan. And it should be pretty quiet due to the fan's size (hence probably lower rpm).

I've heard the EVGA cooler is form over function - loud and not that great of a cooler. The first ASUS link is just a Silencer, but those are some of the best coolers anyways so that's a pretty good deal 🙂 .

I hate to tread on a matter of personal preference (almost as bad as ridiculing one for a taste in music hehe) but let me ask you something.

Do you stare at your video card when playing games? If you do, what games do you play because you are an easy frag! 😛

edit: Thanks rollo, ever store i looked at seemed to have the same referance desgin, some of those are nice. :-D

Yes i star at my stuff when i play games 😛

like i said before, i want both... and while it is all sitting in a closed box on the floor, there are times where i do show off my stuff, unlike the forum world we all live in 80% of the world uses a big box pc, and because of the huge market up on performace parts never gets to use much less see them.

my next build (in the works right now, base on the epox-sli mobo, p180 case, antec neo he 550 power supply, 1 or 2 raptors, don't know might sell the other one i own). etc, will be made to both look good, and perform good, the current pc i put togther when i was building/rebuilding 3 pcs in about 1.5 days, and these machines went from sctratch to fully operational/tested, retested & setup. so this new one i'm taking my time on and what everything nice.

LOL! I didn't even notice that they had a diagram showing the CPU fan sucking the hot air off of the GPU... Don't most CPU's just down throttle when the begin to overheat? I bet that could make the Prescott P4's really kick some ass in gaming.

LeadTek is teh uber for non reference-design heatsinks: my friend had a 5900 (I know, I know) that was a single slot but looked like the front of a semi truck. Why can't they make them like this anymore?

...sorry, the PCB is still green...

wow that silncer is nice, wish that acs cam on a gt, don't think i can afford a gtx, i wish though, very nice card

You can actually buy both the Silencer and the ACS3 seperately. That being said, the reason I used the back plate from the KO is because the RAM spreader for back of the card included with the Silencer is mounted with sticky tape, that well, isn't very sticky.... The Rev. 3 Silencers have been recalled for either this reason or the fact that the wires on the power plugs were crossed on most of the cards that went to retail. If you want to get a Silencer for your GT, I would recommend waiting until the Rev. 3's are all recalled, fixed, and back in circulation. I was pretty disappointed with the crossed wire issue as well as the ghetto sticky tape mounting for the RAM spreader (that didn't even work), but the overall cooling ability of the Silencer once it's installed properly is fantastic.

The quadro cooler used on the Leadtek card is probably the best looking one I've ever seen on any card. That thing just screams of a high end card. It would be nice if this appears on the upcoming Ultra as part of the reference design, as it's supposed to be very quiet and far more powerful than the normal GTX cooler. Although as was said before the appearance of a video card doesn't matter much since it's always facing down anyway, unless you have one of those inverted cases.

If anyone has seen Ackmed's case, (really nice) that has the inverted motherboard. Heatsink side of video card is facing up. Then I can see caring about what your vid card looks like. To each his own. I personally just care about functionality and cooling. I don't find myself hauling my rig to LAN parties much. (ever 😉 ). But there are some pretty kewl looking 7800's listed in this thread.

That Leadtek one looks awesome. Nice big fan, Heatpipes, a lot of extra real estate for cooling fins. Highly functional "looking".
