Where's the best place to go to learn about laptops?

I'm looking at buying one, but although I know a good bit about desktops, I'm not well versed in the ins and outs of laptops. Does anyone have any suggestions for sites with good info on the details of laptops' construction and the differences between them and desktops? Also, I need to learn both the good/bad points/hardware to watch out for. Basically, I need to get thoroughly informed. Since they are not the kind of thing that can be easily self-built or upgraded, I want to know what I'm talking about before I go to Best Buy or wherever and talk to some ignorant salesperson.
