Where's the best place to buy Wire (zip) ties in bulk?

That's basically your best bet right there, you won't find 48" much cheaper. Go down to 36" or lower and they drop in price, and come in packs of 100 usually, but 48" is an odd size.

Thanks, I need the extra 12 inches unfortunately. I was hoping buying in bulk would get me better prices... unless some contractor here has some extra ties and/or knows a direct place to purchase from 🙂
 
Well, I checked a few sites, most have up to 36" and that's it. At one point I needed a longer one, and I looped a few together, worked alright for me, but depending on the application it might lower the strength of them.

You could try contacting these guys, they don't have 48" listed on their site, but perhaps they could get them for you?
 
ohh my wife works at a place that makes those. we had garbage bags full of them. hmm think i still have a few big bags in the garage heh

she gets some for free every year! heh

Go and talk to somebody at Lowes, Home Depot, etc. Maybe they'll cut you a bulk deal.

Why on god's green earth do you need 1,000 4-foot-long wire ties, anyway? 😛 We used to use them once in a while where I used to work, but that was to tie wheelchairs down to wooden pallets for shipping.

Because I need to hang signs outside of my projects. I use 100 a week so saving even $2/50 would add up to a new graphics card by years end.

That's because 1000 wire ties is most definatly BULK.
 
4 foot zip ties would cost a lot more to manufacture than smaller ones. Bigger molds, bigger presses, less cavaties per cycle.
