Wheres the best place for a fantasy football newb to start

I have never played in a FF league before, but am an avid football fan and want to give it a try. Where would be the best place to start, to learn the basics and get involved without getting completely crushed by veterans. I have no problems losing, I expect to really, as long as the players that are beating me, help me to learn as well, that would be great. SO any advice?
 
go to yahoo sports and join a public league. it's a good place to start b/c many vets off FFL will not play public leagues. the only bad thing is that 1/2 the people in the leauge usually quit during the year.
