I still think Kimberly's face is too fat.

Why do all the judges sugar coat everything? It's like all "you sounded great!" bla bla bla... Simon is the only one with real comments.

i would start these threads but i'm on west coast time.

perhaps i should just start them early! :D

i'm currently voting for everyone but kim locke :)

ruben: AWESOME. he's SO good. if he doesn't win he gets a deal, no doubt about it. he's sooooooo great.

trenyce: she does this thing with her mouth that doesn't look natural. her clothes are way out there but i think she did very well tonite.

josh: mannnn i'm pulling for you josh... that's why i don't think he'll make it past tonite. he sounded good, the second song was better, but he was the worst tonite.

kim locke: good but i still don't think she'll win. she's learned how to bring songs down to her register but i still don't think she can be the american idol simply because she's not thin enough. that's just the way i think it'll turn out.

clay: AWESOME. build me up... buttercup... whee! and the solitaire was sooooo good... so much feeling... so eerie... theatrical lighting... it was so great!

Ruben was great again tonight - as always. That second performance was one of the best of the entire AI2 competition. Granted I'm a 205 homer, but I honestly do like his sound more than anybody else in the competition.

Clay's voice is absolutely amazing, but he does strike me as broadway. Kimberly Locke is being propped up by the judges more than she deserves IMO. I think they're just trying to give the show an aura of uncertainty because it looks like it's pretty obvious it's going to be a Clay/Ruben final. Trenyce is actually a better singer the Kimberly IMO, but they're always a lot tougher on her. I thought she did much better tonight.

Josh is a goner.

Wow! I thought Trenyce would probably be in the bottom 2 just because she doesn't seem to have the fan base - NOT because she deserved. Kimberly Locke went out there and stunk it up on her first song last night yet didn't even get a whiff of the bottom two while Ruben sang well on both songs (nailed the 2nd IMO) and still was down in the bottom 2. I guess so many people assumed he was a favorite that they didn't bother trying to vote for him.

Well you would ASSUME Josh is an instant out next week, but after tonight, who knows?

You were wrong about Carmen so I'll go out on a limb here and say you're wrong about Josh too. Locke is out next week. I'm thinking Josh the week after but seeing as how Ruben got into the bottom two this week I'm not so sure

omg i nearly had a heart attack when i heard RUBEN was in the bottom two. people you can't assume he's gonna make it each week!

i knew trenyce wasn't gonna win but... josh deserved the boot this week. you can tell josh was very grateful he got a second chance...

here's to hoping next week's bottom two is josh and kim l.

There's no way Locke's going out next week. Her first performance last night was horrendous yet she didn't even get a whiff of the bottom two. In fact I'm beginning to think she's going to win the whole thing as she seems to be surfing a massize popularity frenzy the last few weeks - created less by her actual performance than by the judges propping her up to add a little uncertainty to a show that was otherwise headed toward an obvious Clay/Ruben final IMO. While I like Kimberly somewhat she struggles a LOT on the lower-end and bottoms out WAY too much.

I think Clay's going to end up winning it all because supporters of Ruben and Kimberly overlap demographics too much. As long as Ruben gets signed (which he most assuredly will) then it's all good IMO.

How the American public can put Ruben in the bottom two, I will never know...most people wouldn't know talent if it hit them with a car, put it in reverse and did it again...

<---pissed off and in shock..

I think Ruben fans have grown complacent. His performances on American Idol have been like watching the New York Yankees over the last few years. He's so strong every week and after awhile you expect it and take it for granted since he seems like the favorite. As a result, people don't bother calling in because they assume he's so overwhelmingly popular that he'll be easily taken care of by others. I think the near miss this week will probably energize his voters for at least the next couple weeks. He could go up on stage and fart the theme to MASH next week and I'll vote for him after the injustice he was served today.

I was completely in shock after that performance.

Ruben: Did great as always. The weird thing about him is that he doesn't really "perform", but he still has a good stage presence. I absolutely adore his voice. I said to my boyfriend... "How can any woman not swoon when they hear him?" Heehee

Kimberly: I thought she did pretty well. If you really listen to her, she has a very strong voice. I think that she just picks horrible songs to sing. If she picked a song that really did her justice, I think she would be great. I think it's really funny that people here are saying that her face is too fat and stuff and they don't mention Ruben. It's a double standard. :p (I think Kimberly is very pretty.)

Trenyce: I haven't really liked her voice up until that performance. I personally thought she nailed it. I think she performed well and had a great voice. I was surprised to see her go based on that performance, but not surprised in her overall performance.

Josh: What can I say about Josh? I don't think he's that great of a singer. He doesn't really perform. I don't know how the hell he made it past last night. I have no idea how America thought that he was better than Ruben or Trenyce for that matter. I was in complete shock. (So was Josh, if you were watching.) I've never been impressed with his voice.

Clay: I've said this before.... I love his voice. I think it's simply amazing. I don't, however, see him as an "American Idol" or pop star. I think he would be wonderful on Broadway. I don't know what it is about him that strikes me that way, but it does. He still looks like Fivel to me (from "American Tale") and he really over pronounces his words when he sings. (Which also makes me think of Broadway.)

Anyway....those are my thoughts.

Dam. I missed it again last night. Who got booted off?

Keep in mind, this is not only a voice competition. Showmanship and popularity plays a big role.

Trenyce got booted after she and Ruben were in the bottom two.

I do think Ruben needs to work on his performing, but the tone of his voice is awesome. He actually has had a few minor problems with his control & pitch on a few high notes the last 2 weeks, but he is still far better than Josh or even Kimberley, so he should make it to the final against Clay.

Clay is a superb singer. I don't think he should win this thing, though... he has worked on his "Broadway" enunciation but he is still not the type of marketable "pop" star they are looking for. I think he can be successful in the industry, but in more of a Josh Groban-like career path.
