we're taking about 1-2% performance difference at the most, from the lowest to the highest memory timings.
As many believe that the lowest CAS latency will mean the best performance, memory manufacturers have been constantly trying to one-up each other by offering lower latencies compared to the competition
From the fastest to slowest memory timings, our SiSoft Sandra Memory Bandwidth benchmark only varied 0.7%. From what we can tell, this could just as easily be within Sandra's range of variance and for all reasonable purposes; there is no real difference to be seen.
As you can likely see, we've been rather fed up with much of the disinformation running rampant around the net about DDR memory. We wanted to test for ourselves and prove our points with substantial facts. Hopefully we've done that today. If you don?t overclock, don?t bother with the more expensive ?high-performance? DDR. You?ll never see any real performance gains. If you do overclock, check out the Kingston or Corsair modules and weigh the pros and cons carefully.
