Ever since reading about Media Fusion's idea to piggyback terabit/second data signals on power lines two years, I have anxiously been waiting for the time that we can all get brain jacks installed and go day-tripping in a digitized world ... yeah.

But, inspite of my deluded fantasies, I've seen this company go through transition after transition, investor after investor, and the technology is still, from what I can see, in the alpha stages.

Other companies are now beginning to try to use power lines within homes and business to create light-speed localized LANs for appliances ... .. for what reason, I cannot understand. I don't imagine that my toaster would have much to tell the world at 2.5 gigabits a second.

Then, people bring up issues with data transmissions going down when power does, and I keep thinking to myself: if you don't have power, why do you care about transmiting data?

Anyway, after reading a few articles on IAL (internal appliance lans), and fascinating things about microwaves that can deliver frozen dinner recipies to the world, I decided to rant about how I want my own dedicated OC48-comparable connection =).

Become a C-LEC, get a couple OC192s, don't advertise...just surf like a madman on redundant, diverse 192's....

OC48??? geez, whattareya, a MAC person??

Why do you think it's taking DSL so long to deploy....the CEOs & Boards of Directors want the bandwidth all to themselves.

If you're gonna fantasize, go big .....

FWIW

2 of the local electric companies are discreetely offering this "test" service to choice locals and a few businesses. I'm trying to get signed up. Bye-bye Dsl. Now all I need is a gigabit card and a highend server.
