My whole premise for a new rig was this fantastic cpu. Well stocked for a month or two by the big boys, and now you cannot even preorder it. I have checked on 2 sites that I want to be notified if there's any word of them. For the life of me, I can't think of a more approprate cpu. (Running general apps, photo editing, and hopefull soon some gaming if this old geezer can find an intrest there.

!) Any heard anything on the Intel E8400 deliveries and prices?

2) How about some qeezer games, like Paul Newman in the 60's and 70's. Maybe a simpler footwall game. I don't even remember what mh 26 year old son played in the dark ages, and he's not good at recommending. I just would like to get into games for the learning, strategy and fun of it all.

Rest of system from Newegg and Techonweb (new to me but decent site with good reviews: Antec P182 Case; PC&Cooling Silencer 610;GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3P motherboard; HIS H387512PNP 38Radeon HD 3870 512mb; 2 of Samsung Spinpoint T series 7200rpm, SATA 3.0Gb/s (no raids); Samsumb DVD burner; Round Floppy drive; 4 of right angled with locks SATA cables; One of Thermaltake 11.8" Y power cable splitter. Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7; 1 Antec case fan to fill the one vacant case fan in the Antec P182P, which has 3 fans installed and one blank spot; OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB);Koutech IO-RCM620 multi reader card for 3.5 drive, so that adapter is incluced here. V92 PCI fax modem; Artic Cooler MX-2; Microsofr XP Pro with SP2 installed. I have an ancient one with original CD with XP q only. Then a deluge of updates. I just need a very clean install on a fragmented drive, partitioned 20GB for OS.

I like the list, and it can be massaged I know, but the bottom line I'm waiting for this e8400 choicd; Don't really know what Intel CPU' will be available otherwise. I'm on the emailing list of Newegg and this new one Techonweb. Will try similar email alerts with Zip Zoom, Tigerdirect and a few more tomorrow. Frustrating when you mentall and financiall ready to go, and then a gig glitch arises.
