Where's my hard drive?

I'm just finishing my first build. It's been fun and almost everything has worked right. I have an Abit AN8 Ultra mobo and two Western Digital Caviar 250 GB SATA drives. I installed the drives in plugs 1 and 2 on the mobo. The BIOS shows both drives. Even Win XP device manager shows both drives there. But Win Explorer only shows one drive. I don't know how to proceed from here. Can anyone help me?

Is the not-showing drive formatted? Go to run, type "compmgmt.msc" (w/o quotes). Click on disk management in the left column & see if you see both drives and all are formatted.

Doh! I thought maybe it wasn't formatted since when I installed XP I was only instructed to format one drive.

So I went to computer management, it shows only one volume in the upper section of the window. In the lower section it shows disk 0 as volume F: and disk 1 as unallocated with no volume letter. The help screen says to right click on the Disk and select Format but when I right click on disk 1 there is not a format option. That option only shows up when I right click on the volume letter.

So, I have a drive but can't figure out how to format it. Thanks for your help, can you walk me through this?

Hey, thanks for the help doh! I just figured out what to do and it is now formatting.

lyssword, these are SATA drives, no master/slave designations, thanks for speaking up anyway. It's nice to know you can come here and get help.
