Here's what i'm running:

7800GT
epox ep-9npa +ultra
Fortran FSP 450W
2x 1gb ValueSelect PC3200
AMD 3200+ Venice
Maxtor DiamondMax 10 100GB 7200 RPM IDE Ultra ATA133

No over clocking whatsoever, i just plugged it in and used it. It worked fine for WoW and CS:S, but framerate in EQ2 blows.

Question one: What is the best course of action to pick up performance?

Question two: I have 2x 512mb ValueSelect PC3200 sitting on my desk. Would plugging these in to the 3rd and 4th slots hurt or help me?

It all depends on how much you're willing to spend to get more FPS.

I would assume your bottleneck is the cpu. See if you can pick up a 3800+ or 4000+ single core S939 cpu on the fs/t forums here on the cheap. 2gb ram should be sufficient; doubt adding another 1gb & abandoning dual channel would do anything for you. Try turning off your virus scanner while you're playing EQ2 if you haven't already.

If you're willing to spend more money, C2D or AM2 is the way to go.
