Better yet, get the X850 XT for $250 AR. In my limited experience, these have all OC'd to PE levels and beyond.

Fastest AGP card money can buy, cheap price too!

Isnt the agp version still based on the old nv40 core? Meaning it wont overclock as good as the .11 micron version?

The AGP version is supposed to use a different core than the PCI-e version...

The x850xt series is the fastest AGP card there is, cheap price too!

The 6800GS-AGP is a ghost. May or may not happen.

In the mean time, I grabbed one of these $250 x850xt's at Microcenter and this card beats the 6800Ultra so why you wanna be a silly little fanboy for one brand just because you paid too much?

I think you quoted the wrong person. :)

I bought the x850xt as well from Microcenter. Oh, and I HATE fanboism more than anyone on these forums, period. It makes zero sense to me. Half the threads here in video drive me nuts due to the fanboism. Yet I still come back, over and over. :p

Why people just can't buy the best card for the games they play, within their budget REGARDLESS of make, just baffles me.

So I guess we agree. ;)

Whoa, at $250, def. the x850xt. Had no idea they'd gotten that cheap.

$299 now. Oh well.

It's $250 AR. The $50 rebate is still good, and linked on the page above. :)

FYI:

http://www.fatwallet.com/t/24/548538

"The UPC on the box does not match either one of the two UPC's listed in the rebate form.
I returned the one I bought.
You've been warned."

"I am concerned about that as well. That's why I sent in the S/N from the box instead of the UPC, which was an option per the rebate instructions. I sure hope I get it."

Hope they matched for you!

ATI cards are a less than optimal option for Linux users - their drivers frequently regress in terms of bugs, and the Linux drivers are much slower than their Windows counterparts. Thus, a 6800GS does have an advantage for some people, even if it's nominally slower than an X800/850.

Thanks for the heads-up. Stupidly, I didn't even bother to check to see if the UPC codes matched. I'll have to check my scans when I get home.

That's complete BS if they don't honor that. I would take a screen cap of microcenter's page for the card where they list the sku for the card and the rebate as the same, and make them give a refund if ATI doesn't honor the rebate because it isn't the "correct" card.

If they don't match I would try Microcenter first. It seems feasible that a manager might give you $50 right there vs. waiting for the rebate

Woe is me for I too am waiting on the release to update my 9600 PRO. I even sent an email to Newegg asking for an update. Their reply was "if it ain't on the website, we don't know about it".

Sigh.:brokenheart:

Let me put this as simply as I can:
